Το όνομά της ήταν Lubna Alyaan. Ονειρευόταν να γίνει παγκοσμίου φήμης βιολονίστρια· το βιολί ήταν το μεγάλο της πάθος. Στις 21 Νοεμβρίου 2023 η ζωή της κόπηκε βάναυσα από ισραηλινές βόμβες, παρ’ ότι βρισκόταν στην τότε «ασφαλή ζώνη» της Al-Nuseirat. Ήταν μόλις 14 ετών. Μαζί της σκοτώθηκαν σχεδόν 50 μέλη της οικογένειάς της.
Ένα μικρό άρθρο στο Mondoweiss στάθηκε η αφορμή για να ξεκινήσει μια προσπάθεια τιμής στη μνήμη της Lubna. Σήμερα, σχεδόν δύο χρόνια αργότερα, αυτή η προσπάθεια παίρνει μορφή.

Το πρόγραμμα: Μπαχ, Μπαρτόκ, Μπετόβεν, Σούμαν — μια συναυλία που, όπως λέει ο διοργανωτής, «σίγουρα θα αγαπούσε και η ίδια».
Το εισιτήριο (20€) καλύπτει τα έξοδα της διοργάνωσης.

Οι καλλιτέχνες
Ματέο Σεστάνι (Αθήνα, 2001) – Βιολοντσέλο
Ξεκίνησε σε ηλικία 6 ετών. Δίπλωμα από το Ωδείο Αθηνών. Κορυφαίος της Underground Youth Orchestra και μέλος της Ελληνικής Συμφωνικής Ορχήστρας Νέων. Έχει εμφανιστεί σε Carnegie Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin και Μέγαρο Μουσικής Αθηνών. Από το 2024 μόνιμο μέλος της ΚΟΘ.
Φραντς Σεστάνι – Βιολί
Γεννημένος στη Σκόδρα, σπούδασε σε κορυφαίες καλλιτεχνικές σχολές των Βαλκανίων. Υπήρξε μέλος της Λυρικής Σκηνής Τιράνων και Α’ κορυφαίος της Ορχήστρας των Χρωμάτων. Από το 2019 είναι μέλος της Λυρικής Σκηνής και συνιδρυτής της Underground Youth Orchestra.
Δαυίδ Τζόνσον – Πιάνο
Με καριέρα σε Ευρώπη και ΗΠΑ, το ντεμπούτο του στη Νέα Υόρκη επαινέθηκε από τους New York Times. Οι ερμηνείες του στις τελευταίες Σονάτες του Μπετόβεν χαρακτηρίστηκαν υποδειγματικές. Παράλληλα, είναι ιστορικός κινηματογράφου της Disney και ερασιτέχνης αρχαιολόγος με πάθος για τη Μινωική Κρήτη.

In memory of Lubna Alyaan — A concert we support
Her name was Lubna Alyaan. She dreamed of becoming a world-renowned concert violinist; the violin was her great passion. But on November 21, 2023, her life was cut short by Israeli bombs, even though she was in the then-designated “safe zone” of Al-Nuseirat. She was only 14 years old. Nearly 50 members of her extended family were killed with her. 
A short article in Mondoweiss sparked an effort to honor Lubna’s memory. Today, nearly two years later, that effort finally is taking shape.

The performers
Matteo Sestani (Athens, 2001) – cello
He began cello at age 6. Diploma from the Athens Conservatory. Principal cellist of the Underground Youth Orchestra and member of the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra, with performances at Carnegie Hall, the Konzerthaus Berlin, and the Athens Megaron. Since 2024 he has been a permanent member of the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra.
Franz Sestani – violin
Born in Shkodër, he began violin studies at age 6. He studied at Prenk Jakova and Jordan Misja and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana. Former member of the Tirana Opera and Ballet Orchestra; performed internationally with the Tirana Quartett in Évian and the Netherlands. From 1993–2016 he served as First Principal of the Orchestra of Colours. Since 2019 he has been a member of the Greek National Opera Orchestra and co-founder of the Underground Youth Orchestra.
David Johnson – piano
Originally from the US and now a long-term resident of Athens. His 1980 New York debut received high praise from The New York Times: “a delightful performance, marked by refined phrasing and tonal precision.” His recent tour of Beethoven’s last three sonatas — the “Everest” of every pianist — was met with great acclaim. In Kathimerini, critic Nikolas Dontas noted that Johnson “moved comfortably in the spiritual world of Beethoven’s music.” He is also a Disney film historian and amateur archaeologist focused on Minoan Crete, and spends much of his time on Kythera, where he has a home in Frilingianika.
